Factors Impacting On The Selection Of Ocean Container Shipping Companies Using Swara And Cocoso MethodsIsmail Metin1, M. Enes Akpınar21Department of Economics and Finance, Manisa Celal Bayar University, Manisa, Turkiye2Department of Business, Bakırçay University, Izmir, Turkiye Today, tens of thousands of companies around the world export and import and need container transportation companies to transport their products. In this context, one of the key decisions in logistics management is the selection of the ocean container company that will transport the firm's export products. The purpose of this study is to identify the selection criteria of an exporting company's international container shipping company and to select the most suitable alternative among them. The primary motivation for this study is that Swara and CoCoSo methods are not used in the literature on ocean container company selection. As a result, communication is the most influential criterion in the selection of ocean container shipping companies, communication is followed by freight cost, transit time and service quality. According to the results of the CoCoSo method, Arkas Line ranked first among the evaluated ocean container shipping companies, making it the most suitable option for the manufacturing firm in Manisa. Maersk and Msc followed closely in second and third places. On the other hand, Evergreen and One Line ranked lowest among the alternatives. These findings provide a comprehensive and structured basis for decision-making, enabling firms to select a carrier that aligns with their operational priorities and strategic objectives. In this context, it is concluded that inter-firm communication can override the transport cost. To increase their competitiveness in the shipping sector, container shipping and transport companies are advised to focus on improving the elements identified in this study, according to this article's conclusions.
